Design of a creative space for co-creation and project headquarters
Cerebral Palsy (CP) is a term that covers a broad spectrum of disorders caused by pre-natal brain damage. Some adolescents with CP have invisible concentration difficulties, others are dependent on a wheelchair or other assistive devices. Regardless, once a patient turns 18, they are transferred from regional care in hospitals to municipal care in different sections and medical supervision from their general practitioner. Some are in parallel transferred from children’s department to adults department in one or more hospitals, depending on symptoms and medical needs. Some GPs and municipalities rarely serve citizens with this condition.
Research shows that adolescents with CP face difficulties caused by challenges related to e.g. maintaining functional levels in their early 20’ies, completing an education, getting a job and establishing a family.
With support from the Elsass foundation, Rigshospitalet has established an interdisciplinary team with scientists and health care professionals who will seek to co-create new services for young people with CP to support them and their families in their transition from child to adult, concerning e.g., administrative, psychological, social, educational and health related challenges.
Case
The project team comprises of a handful of full-time staff, a large group of loosely affiliated partners, external collaborators as well as patients and next of kin who contribute to co-creation processes.
However, the offices assigned to the project appear uninspiring and with out any identifying traits. The project needs a place people will want to visit, that can inspire creative thinking, that seems friendly and welcoming to collaborators. A place that embodies the dedication and visions shared in the team.
As the budget for decoration is limited, it would be nice if the team also developed a fundraising strategi and made suggestions for framing the application.
